Posted on 4/1/2016

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Titchfield High School are the 2016 winners of the Television Jamaica School's Challenge Quiz.

After a nerve-racking and intense match, Titchfield defeated Campion College 41-39 to claim the title for the first time.

Of course, it wouldn't be School's Challenge Quiz without some amount of excitement, which this year came close to the end of the buzzer section. A disturbance by the Titchfield team, which the quizmaster described as "unprecedented", forced the judges to add an additional five seconds to the match.

With the scores at this point locked at 41-39 in favour of Titchfield High, Campion College pressed the buzzer and answered correctly, pulling the scores level at 41-41 and forcing the match into overtime.

However, as fate would have it, Campion pressed the buzzer again but this time their answer was incorrect.

Having gone to the finals of the very popular competition three times, the Portland school is finally walking away with the much-coveted trophy.

As the school celebrates its 230th anniversary, the win will no doubt add to the string of accolades the institution has garnered over the years.

Titchfield High is the fifth oldest school in the country and has produced some of Jamaica's finest, such as Micheal Lee Chin and NCB Ambassador Dr Princeton Brown.
