Sagicor Inspires Tertiary Students in New Project

Posted on 10/12/2016

Sagicor Group Jamaica launched its inaugural Inspire Project on Friday, aimed at strengthening the leadership and life skills of some 120 specially selected tertiary-level students.

The students will be taken on a weekend motivational retreat at the Sagicor-owned Hilton Resort and Spa in St James from Friday, October 21 to 23.

The event was launched at the new Toyota Jamaica Showroom on Hope Road, Kingston.

Speaking on the basis of the selection of the students, Vice-President Group marketing, Ingrid Card, said in a news release that “these amazing young people were selected because they have set themselves apart on their respective campuses through their exemplary leadership or through their academic achievement. They have all worked very hard!”

Students with the highest grade point average in their respective faculties at the University of the West Indies and the University of Technology were invited as well as the presidents of the Guild of Students from each college and university across Jamaica.

The youth retreat will serve to empower youth leaders by complementing their educational experience with discussions, motivational talks and other activities purposed to stimulate and motivate them toward continued excellence.

The Sagicor Group through this project will use their President and CEO Richard Byles, along with Sagicor’s board members and the executive leadership team, to engender a culture of excellence in the participants and further inspire them towards excellence.

According to Byles “the Sagicor Group will continue to present initiatives such as this to deliver positive messages into the lives of the next generation”.

Such initiatives, he said, will serve to build Jamaica and deliver future leaders that will be inspired to contribute to its development.

The Sagicor Group Leadership team as well as a cadre of motivational speakers will be available to student leaders throughout the three- day event.
