Education Ministry, UWI Partnering to Provide Teacher-Training Scholarships

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information is partnering with the School of Education at the University at the West Indies (UWI), Mona, St. Andrew, to award 200 scholarships to educators, and individuals desirous of pursuing training in teacher education.

Education Ministry Reports Overall Improvements In GSAT Results

The Education Ministry is reporting that there were improvements in the scores in four of the five areas that were tested in the March 2018 sitting of the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) compared with last year. It was the final sitting of the 19-year-old test, which will be replaced by the Primary Exit Profile next year.

Kiwanis Movement Invited to Deepen Partnership with Youth

Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, Hon. Floyd Green, has invited the Kiwanis movement to deepen their partnership with youth and children. Delivering the keynote address at the 45th anniversary of the Kiwanis Club of Portmore on May 22 at the Four Seasons Hotel in St. Andrew, Mr. Green said the establishment of youth clubs is another area in which the group can lend their expertise.

Grade-Five Students to Sit Mock Performance Task Test

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information will administer two sets of mock Performance Task tests as students are being prepared to transition from the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) to the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) examination, beginning in 2019.
